All
Saints’ Parish Church
Choir is a large and active choir with a fine record
of achievements, and is well known in the Diocese and beyond.
The weekly anthems,
motets and service settings, together with the music sung
at special services, festivals and recitals, results in
the
choir
performing a substantial amount of music each year. The
repertoire covers a wide range of composers from all periods
including
Tallis, Byrd, Gibbons, Purcell, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert,
Mendelssohn, Wesley, Bruckner, Vaughan Williams, Howells
and Britten. The choir knows and enjoys singing music in
different
styles and of different periods, and experiences real satisfaction
when a piece has been sung well.
The musical training is directed by our Organist and Choirmaster,
Greg Smith.
He is a Graduate of the Royal Northern College
of Music, an Associate of the Royal College of Organists,
and a Licentiate of Trinity College, London. He is an experienced
choir trainer and organ recitalist.

Throughout
the year the choir leads the regular sung services
of Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong, together with the
major feast days and festivals of the church’s
year. We have taken part in many RSCM events
both at York Minster
and Durham Cathedral together with many churches
throughout the North.
